The Roadmap to Licensure
Complete Pre-Licensing Education
This is the biggest hurdle. You must complete your state-required hours (e.g., 60 hours in VA/MD) through an accredited school. We recommend The CE Shop because it is 100% online and self-paced.
Pass the Class & State Exams
Once you finish the online course, you will take a final exam on your computer. After passing that, you will schedule your State Licensing Exam at a local PSI testing center. The CE Shop includes "Exam Prep" tools to ensure you are ready.
Find a Sponsoring Broker
You cannot hold an "active" license without a broker. This is where you choose your team. We recommend interviewing brokerages that offer mentorship and leads (like Jamil Brothers Realty) rather than just a place to hang your license.
Apply for Your License
With your exams passed and broker selected, you submit your application to the state board (DPOR in VA). Once approved, you are officially a licensed Realtor®!
